Our job is not about being remembered

I’m not sure that wanting to make an impact or make a difference is about being remembered.

Very few people will, and some of them for the wrong reasons.

Businesses need to be profitable to survive, but that doesn’t include leaving a legacy. Making a difference is about adding, doing work that’s going in the direction of contributing to certain conversations, standards and culture.

When we focus too much on being a somebody in a given field or industry we’re playing ego games. Nobody is anybody without somebody else’s help or contribution.

What needs to be remembered is not you, but the difference you’ve made. The name attached to that is just a label.
